Poem In Praise Of France

It's about time I recorded some poems for this blog, isn't it?

What this means, of course, is that at some point over the coming months, I'll have to write some.

In the mean time, here's one from the archives. The mid-90s as I recall. Some of the references are a little out of date, but fortunately this ditty doesn't evidence the same arthritic creak as Carlo Ancelotti's recent tactics for Chelsea FC.

More? Less? Not Bothered?

This is wonderful. I love the phrase the midday soleil.

And rhyming want with trente!

I look forward to hearing some more of these.

(Oh, and I'm impressed by your new red flash on your banner!)

France? France?

France.

Well, OK, then.

Seriously, Whirl, with your voice you could read ANYTHING and have me swooning. That would be swooning in the good, falling gently back onto the swooning couch kind of way, not the flat face-fall into the floor kind of swoon.

Once your book is pubbed, you are so going to have to do several readings from it and post everywhere. In fact, if YOU read your audio book version, you'd make more from it than the print version, me thinks!

Funny you should mention the red flash — I was just on the verge of taking it down(!)

I'll leave it up till my forthcoming revamp using the new template generator.

Hope you didn't bash your head too badly when your legs went from under you — not that I think for a moment that you did actually swoon.

As for the reading thing, it's such a long way down the line I hadn't really thought of this as a possibility. After all, it's an odd kind of hubris to wonder, David Tennant — or Brian Blessed?

Oh, no contest from an American ear! David all the way for acting chops (love, love him), but not for voice only. I miss lines from Dr. Who all the time. Can't even imagine him as Hamlet.

David Tennant, definitely. Although Patrick Stewart always has my vote.

I can't stand Brian Blessed.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with for the new revamped look. ("Revamped" sounds like something from Twilight, only twice.)

I'm going with Patrick Stewart, but only because I don't know the other two. Sadly out of touch.

We're getting a new Dr Who next week (that's 'us in the UK' as opposed to 'Me & Girly of Whirly. For the bath room, like'). Can't wait. Plus, the new series dierctor is the writer of all the best episodes from the Tennant era.

Hog of Magnificence & Wonder
Likely, my makeover will only consist of a colour and formatting change. And I know what you mean about Patrick Stewart. Without him and McKellen, those X Men films are pastry.

Sarah
Brian Blessed is one of Britain's greatest classically trained actors and complete and utter pratts.

I don't even care what you're saying, I just like to listen to you talk.

But I also like your rhymes ; ) And I'm also highly entertained by your maintenance notice.

I was going to eat breakfast, but everytime I close I eyes I see freezedried bats. Poor little guys.

I like the current new look and I adore the maintenance notice! I wonder why you've gone to two columns not three.

The new look may not be permanent. I'm just experimenting at the moment. I've been looking to change things for a while and this 2-column template has a cleaner approach. Just trying to figure out how to interpose a better background between the text boxes and the abyss we all know lurks behind every computer wallpaper.

It's my 2nd Bloggiversary on Thursday so come back soon: absolutely nothing will be happening.

Hey, you can't let your bloggiversary go unmarked!

Oh, you're remodeling! Thankfully, paint and wallpaper are cheap. How about new additions? Are you going to look into the subpages thing? That's such a cool new feature Blogger has added. Makes Blogger almost feel like a real home/website.

Sounds like you'll need a combo house warming and blogiversary party soon ;o)

There will definitely be some sort of post on Thursday, and from then on, more regularity than has been evident this month. As for the tabs, I intend to make full use of them in the coming months as the whole subbing thing takes off — bio, extracts, recordings etc. So stay tuned.

Ooh, I'm always a sucker for absolutely nothing...

Are we talking some vacuum-meets vacuum tug-o-war here?

I'd love to see that.
