Cheer Up, You Miserable Bugger

What a fine week for melancholy this is turning out to be.

But before my brow furrows till theis vyle choler squeezeth from my ears, I have an announcement to brighten even the darkest corners of Jack Nicholson's heated swimming pool.

News just in is that the Legion of Online Superheroes is now live, which presumably means that mutant dinosaurs, disaffected shapeshifters and murderous villains with names like Walt Willy Winston Wayne Wahoo Wobbler Wilberforce Wankwonk are about to come screaming into the blogosphere to do battle with the forces of whimsy.

AbyssWinksBack Comix (I know — shoot me) is pleased to herald (pooooot) the arrival of a new superhero on the block. Even now, her ubercozzie sits waiting to be pressed before taking up its place in a wardrobe of unstably moleculed capes, leotards and armoured codpieces, all of which will no doubt shrink miraculously round the limbs of the uncanny over the next few weeks.

If it helps, I got the idea for this character over the weekend — ie before yesterday. Must be a theme...

Well my computer is being a pest. All I can see is a big rectangle with a tiny blue square in it, upon which is a eency weency white question mark. Is it an existential superhero?

I can't see pic... :o(

Possibly existential — but I think you may have a glitsch. I can see it here...

It may be a Safari thing. I'll poste her at the foot of the blog for anyone similarly visually hamstringed...

Is it on your pc but not uploaded? Because I can't see it either.

Whirlochre said...

I've definitely got it this end. Maybe I'll try reposting later if it persists.

I too am having a melancholic week. I commiserate.

The picture's there. Perhaps right-clicking on the picture placeholder box and selecting show picture will do it. If not, it's a glitch with the nets and not with the post.

I like Sorrow. She looks cool. I just got my character done last night. We go live Friday so I had best write something. At 500 words, I think I may manage it!

I don't see the picture here, but it is on the Legion blog.

So, we can expect to see Walt Willy Winston Wayne Wahoo Wobbler Wilberforce Wankwonk showing up now, eh?

Ubercozzie.

Had to look it up.

Uber is German for "above", or "super". According to the Urban Dictionary Cozzie means:

1. an extremely sexy beast

2. Australian word for a 'swim suit', Speedos, bikini, etc. Also known as togs.

3. Cozzie is a ungreatful, backstabbing, worthless, piece of shit who does not deserve to have any friends, but deserves to have her ass kicked.

I'm just guessing as to which meaning you've intended. (Some of each?)

Interestingly, I'm at a public computer au mo and I can't see the picture either. When I get back later tonight I'll re-post. Maybe it has something to do with editing the thing in Legions by accident in the first place. Or maybe it's just because I'm stupid.

As for 'cozzie', here in the UK it means 'costume' — more specifically a special kind of costume, most often a swimming cozzie. But you're right, Bevie — any of your three will do.

As for the melancholy, Dave — I'm cheered to see your return. Actually, I'm not too bad today. A momentary Ozzy Osbourne moment.

I've looked on TLOOSH and my word, Sorrow is wonderful! I can't wait to see what you do with her.

Whirlochre said...

Me too!

All I know at the moment is that it's likely to be...dark.

Hopefully the pic is visible now...

WO, this introspection is worrying. The humour is definitely tinged with darkness this week.

McKoala said...

Not that we expect you to be funny all the time. Just worried down under.

Kiersten said...

Did you draw that??

Either way, it is, quite frankly, awesome.

Now I'm even less inclined to play, because what could I possibly come up with cooler than that?

I stethoscope your heart and will pick up my award later. Thanks.

McKoala
What can I say — like everyone else, I have my moments, but for the most part choose to display frivolousness here. Definitely caught out this week and it seemed appropriate to share it.

Kiersten
If I could draw like this, I'd have a weekly sketch like Natalie. This is from the superhero generator at http://tinyurl.com/snoobford

Kiersten said...

Ah, yes, I've found it now. Still, yours seems distinctly cooler than anything I spent way, way too much time designing...

Whirlochre said...

Very tempting to use the swords. No, wait a minute — that's breakfast...

Scarlet-Blue said...

I can see it now!

Whirlochre said...

Yippee!

Bevie said...

I see it, too.

It's the simplicity which makes it so great.

Give it a go, Kiersten! There's no hurry. You can join whenever.

Hi Whirl!

I'm giving you an award. You can claim it from my blog: The Great Sea.

Whoo hoo! Another award.
